This overview compares the two payment options based on payout timing, accounting, and the amount of setup your organization wants to manage.
FrontDoor+ Payments
Ticket-sale funds stay on the FrontDoor+ ticketing platform until the event is over. After the event, FrontDoor+ sends one payout covering all ticket sales.
Advantages
- No Stripe account is required, so setup is fast and easy
- Accounting is simple because you receive one payout after the event
- This option works well for volunteers or first-time organizers who want very little financial setup
Considerations
- Funds are available only after the event
- The payout timing is fixed, which may be limiting if you need ticket-sale funds for expenses before the event
Stripe Payments
With this option, you connect your own Stripe account to FrontDoor+. Ticket sales flow directly into Stripe, which sends payouts to your bank on its usual schedule.
Setup takes more time because Stripe needs information about your organization and must verify your identity and banking information. FrontDoor+ helps clients through the setup. After setup, your organization controls its payouts and accounting.
This model also shifts card-processing risk away from FrontDoor+ and gives your organization more direct ownership of its payments.
Advantages
- Funds can arrive during the sales period instead of after the event
- You can view and manage payouts directly from your Stripe account
Considerations
- Setup takes longer because Stripe must verify the account
- Accounting may be more involved because you may receive several smaller payouts
- Your organization manages the Stripe account and communications with Stripe. FrontDoor+ can help when support is needed.
Which option works best
Choose FrontDoor+ Payments if
- You prefer the simplest setup
- You want one clear payout after the event
- Your volunteers or board want minimal financial complexity
Choose Stripe Payments if
- You want to receive funds sooner, including before the event
- You already use Stripe for other purposes
- Your organization is comfortable with additional bookkeeping and account management
