Set Up Your First Event

3 min read

FrontDoor+ makes it easy to create an event and start selling tickets. The setup screens guide you through each step, even if this is your first event.

You do not need technical experience. Most organizers complete their setup in a few minutes.

Step 1: Enter your event basics

Select NEW EVENT to open the Basics screen. Enter:

  • Event title
  • Event description
  • Location
  • Start and end dates and times
  • Event image sized 1000 by 500 pixels

Most details can be edited later, so they do not need to be perfect on your first pass.

Step 2: Create your ticket types

1. Select TICKETS, then select NEW TICKET.

2. Name the ticket, such as Adult, Youth, or Weekend Pass.

3. Set the price.

4. Set the available quantity or leave it open.

5. Choose the sales start and end dates.

FrontDoor+ supports three kinds of ticket types:

Admission Tickets

These tickets are used for entry. Examples include General Admission, Adult, Youth, Senior, and Weekend Pass.

Add-On Tickets

These tickets are not used for entry. They are for items redeemed on-site, such as ride tickets, drink tokens, and parking passes.

Bundles

A bundle is a group of tickets sold together. Bundles can increase pre-sales and simplify the options available to guests. Examples include:

  • A Family Pack with two adult tickets and two youth tickets
  • A Date Night bundle with two admission tickets and two drink tickets
  • A Ride and Entry package that combines admission and ride credits

Step 3: Customize the checkout experience

This optional step lets you tailor the guest experience after purchase. You can:

  • Add fine print or special notes
  • Customize the post-purchase button, such as linking to a waiver or website
  • Add tracking pixels if your organization uses them

Many events skip this optional section and continue to the next step.

Step 4: Review and publish

Open the REVIEW & PUBLISH screen and review:

  • Event dates
  • Description and image
  • Ticket names and prices
  • Ticket sales windows

When everything is correct, choose how to save the event:

Draft

Keeps the event private so you can continue editing. The ticket page is not visible to the public.

Unlisted

Makes the event live, but only people with the link can access it. This is useful for presales, member-only tickets, or soft launches.

Published

Makes the event fully live and visible to anyone. You can share the link on your website, Facebook, or anywhere guests find event information.

You can switch between Draft, Unlisted, and Published at any time. Published mode also adds your event to the public event listing page and lets search engines know about your event.

Step 5: Promote your event

After publishing, open the PROMOTE section in your dashboard. It includes:

  • Your ticket page link
  • QR codes for posters, signs, and printed materials
  • Tracking links that measure which posts or ads generate clicks and sales

Simple ways to promote your event include:

  • Post the ticket link on Facebook, Instagram, and your website
  • Add the QR code to posters, signs, billboards, and handouts
  • Share the link in email newsletters and community groups
  • Ask committee members and volunteers to share the link with their networks

If promoting an event feels unfamiliar, FrontDoor+ can guide you through practical ways to build momentum.
